The Third Annual 2010 Christ Hospital Gala Surpasses Goal and Raises $500,000

The Christ Hospital Foundation hosted its Third Annual Gala last Saturday evening, November 6, 2010, at the Glenpointe Marriott in Teaneck, New Jersey. This was the largest fundraising event to date for the Hospital. Proceeds from the event alone, made through sponsorships and contributions, raised an unprecedented $500,000 and the ballroom was filled to capacity with 500 guests.

Special recognition awards were conferred at the event to this year’s honorees, Senator Sandra B. Cunningham and Sodexo, for their support of and contributions to Christ Hospital and the local community. Senator Cunningham and Sodexo were also presented with proclamations issued by Jerramiah T. Healy, Mayor of Jersey City; Thomas A. DeGise, Hudson County Executive; U.S. Senator Robert Menendez; and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Peter A. Kelly, President and CEO of Christ Hospital, commented that the 2010 Christ Hospital Gala exceeded all expectations. He added, “I would like to extend special thanks to our corporate sponsors, donors, and physician community for their overwhelming display of support.”

For the past decade, Senator Cunningham has dedicated her political career toward helping the residents of Hudson County. An advocate for children and working families, she shares core values with Christ Hospital and champions the rights of citizens to have access to affordable healthcare.

Sodexo, the world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions and official food service provider to Christ Hospital, was also honored for its commitment to service and its leadership role in the fight against poverty and hunger. Christ Hospital’s partnership with Sodexo has enhanced the patient experience and is crucial in fostering a healing environment, helping make every day a better day for millions of hospital patients, their loved ones and friends, medical and other hospital staff. Funds donated to this year’s gala will be used to benefit the variety of clinical services provided by Christ Hospital.
